Dr. Dag Yasui earned his B.S. from the University of Oregon in 1985 and began his career in the medical testing industry before transitioning to research on multiple sclerosis at Harvard Medical School. He obtained his Ph.D. in Immunology from Tufts University in 1997, after which his postdoctoral training at UC Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory sparked his interest in the role of genetic defects in neurodevelopmental diseases.
Since 2002, Dr. Yasui has been a scientist at the UC Davis School of Medicine, where his research focuses on uncovering the mechanisms underlying Rett syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, and autism spectrum disorders. As part of 2C Bioscience, he contributed to the identification of the Neuronal Hypoxia Inducible, Placenta Associated (NHIP) gene, characterized NHIP peptide-interacting proteins, and developed mouse models of human neurodevelopmental diseases.
